Post-Jam thoughts & Future Plans

I was actually not going to join the Game Jam initially, I have been a lurker in this community for a while and while I had a little bit of game creation experience I never really felt a reason to actively join anything.

But due to various life circumstances I decided fuck it and joined in last minute when there was only like 3 days felt to upload a game.

I had an idea for a game I've been cooking for a while but had no time to develop before and tried to make thhe simplest version of that idea that was still something. The result was filled with half done sprites and a currency system easier to break than windows vista but it existed which I all I asked of it.

What I didn't expect was the feedback for this game, I didn't expect anyone to pay it any attention but no you showed me so much love and encouragement this week I honestly don't know what to say other than Thank You, I've needed some kind of win for a while.

With that being said the game is FAR from done and id be a shame to leave it at its current state So I'll tell you a little bit of what I have planned:

Update 1: Clean-up

  • Updating Jess' sprites
  • Updating the Intro, Birth scene and Dr Zyga's sprites
  • Adding a separate Lab room where you can upgrade Jess and visit Dr Zyga
  • Fix the economy (of the game)
  • Make the fade to next day less obnoxious
  • bugfixes

So yeah first update will be a little bit boring but its an important one, I have most of this ready already and it should hopefully be done by the start of next week, I saw some request for a bulk by button of a sort in the shop and while I will add it hopefully with how the economy works now the progression is less explosive now and the growth will be at a somewhat more reasonable pace.

Since the game doesn't have much interaction yet I've opted to make progessing each day to be less of a hassle, Its something I will have to look over once the game has more stuff to do between each day.

Update 2: Activites and Talking

  • Add a mood mechanic for the surrogates
  • High mood: more credits for surrogacy, Low mood: Less credits
  • Add activites that adds a way to earn a bit of creadits on the side and to keep mood high
  • Add the ability to talk to Jess
  • bugfixes

Can't promise when this update is coming it should hopefully not be to long between update 1 and 2, The idea here is to add a proper gameplay loop for this game, the idea is that while pregnancy is beautiful, It can be straining physically and mentally (Especially for the sizes the surrogates reach here). Each day the mood migh go down, so your job is to figure out what the surrogate needs and then do an activity that helps raise the mood.

Whether its satifying a craving, some kind of hobby that the surrogate has or just simply realease some aches to even milking down the line, There is something to do each day is atleast the idea.

More details on what all this entails will come once it gets closer

Update 3: More hires

  • Finally add more surrogates
  • bugfixes

And of course is the subject of more surrogates, I have the concept of a couple of potentiall surrogates to add into the game, I will at some point do some kind of poll or similar on which one I should add first, More details once it gets closer.

Update ?: More to come

I've gotten a lot of great feedback this week and a lot of good additions on this game, While I can't promise that eveything will be in the game I do see them and take every idea I get into consideration, so if you have any ideas of future additions don't be afraid to suggest! Just understand not everything might be added due to one reason or another.

Lastly I just wanted to say thank you again and that you have not heard the last of me
